“We held our wedding reception June 09 at the fabulous Ashbourne Marriott. From day one when we viewed the hotel, we were made to feel extremely welcome by each member of staff. "It is over a year now since we held our wedding party at the Pilio Hotel formally the Marriott Ashbourne. We did it slightly different than the traditional Irish wedding. We got married abroad on the 12th May, we did not have any family or friends with us, so we wanted to mark the occasion on our return with them. We thought we would have a low key party with few guests but once planning started and the guest list was made the small low key function was quickly changed!! But it all worked out fantastic and we also got the best day weather wise of the whole summer. On the lead up to it before we travelled abroad I had a few meetings with Ciara. I explained to Ciara what we wanted, I really wasn’t sure how the whole thing would work out as I had never been to a wedding party before but Ciara was most helpful in the planning process and it all was very simple and so easy to plan. Anything I wanted or was worried about Ciara sorted it there and then or would phone me later on with an answer. We had our guests arriving at 6pm on 3rd June 2011 to the drinks reception. This was held in the bar area right outside the function room. The sparkling wine was flowing and it was a chance for James and I to meet and greet all our guests. Then we were all called into the function room for food at 7.30. The function room looked great with all the tables set up. We had about 150 guests so we had the full room, it was a great size. Georgina was the manager on duty that evening and she was brilliant, so efficient and helpful. We were having a buffet meal. I was concerned there would not be enough food to go around but that certainly was not the case, some guests went up 3 times for food! So needless to say the food was fantastic, we had 2 hot dishes and salads. We had a selection of mini desserts and wedding cake for dessert. We did not have speeches so once food was finished it was time for the DJ to start. The whole night went so well everyone enjoyed it greatly. We had great feedback from all our guests on the party and the hotel. So we both would highly recommend the Pillo Hotel for weddings." Bernice and James Byrne
